CYBERJAYA: TODAK has the potential to become a one-stop centre for introducing and exposing Malaysians to the world of electronic sports (e-sports), according to Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

Adam Adli highlighted that the facilities provided by TODAK were essential elements in attracting public interest and empowering the people’s understanding of the rapidly growing industry.

“What I can conclude is that the public needs to be aware and exposed to the facilities provided by TODAK, which includes TODAK Academy and TODAK Studios. I hope TODAK continues to encourage the public to learn about e-sports.

“This is my first visit here, and when I saw the facilities TODAK has, I was surprised. With such a hub, we can expect that in a few years, the community will learn more about e-sports,” he said during the podcast ‘Langgar Je’, hosted by Danial Aizat Rames Abdullah, also known as Abang Lord, recently.

The podcast is an initiative by TODAK under the production of the TODAK Electronic Sports Club, founded by Khairul Azlan Zainal.

Adam Adli, who spent about 30 minutes touring the TODAK hub facilities accompanied by Khairul Azlan, who is also executive director of TODAK Holdings Sdn Bhd, noted that e-sports could attract interest from all segments of society, particularly the younger generation and parents.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will assist the Ministry of Education (MOE) in identifying suitable games to be introduced at the school level,” he said.

He also gave words of encouragement to the TODAK Electronic Sports Club athletes who will be competing in the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 14 Playoffs, which will be held in Johor from Oct 31 to Nov 3.

“Good luck to the TODAK team for the MPL in Johor. Make sure we win, and I believe we will close this year with various successes in e-sports,” he added.

TODAK was established with the goal of producing more skilled workers to meet the current industry demands, especially through the TODAK Academy.

Students at the academy undergo a three-month training programme, guided by instructors from various backgrounds, including relevant industries and other academic experts, before being awarded the UTMSPACE Professional Certificate, Malaysia Skills Certificate Level Three, and TODAK Certificate.

Additionally, TODAK Studios is developing an electronic game called ‘Mastra’, currently in its ‘closed Beta’ phase, with the objective of becoming Malaysia’s first recognised e-sports platform. It is expected to be officially announced by mid-next year. – BERNAMA
