More countries condemn terrorist attack in Turkish capital, express solidarity

NEW DELHI: Pakistan and several other countries strongly condemned Wednesday’s terrorist attack in the Turkish capital Ankara and expressed solidarity with Turkiye.

At least five people were killed and 22 others injured when a male and a female terrorist targeted the main facility of the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

“Deeply shocked and saddened by the terrorist attack in Ankara. My heartfelt condolences go out to my dear brother President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the people of Turkiye,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.

“Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with our Turkish brothers. I strongly condemn this dastardly act and pray for the families of the victims as well as speedy recovery of the injured,” he said in a post on X.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called the attack “cowardly” and expressed solidarity with the Turkish government and people.

While condemning the attack, Azerbaijan said it will always stand by Turkiye.

Somalia praised the swift response of Turkish security forces in eliminating the attackers.

“This cowardly act is not just an attack on Turkiye, but a threat to global peace and security. Somalia, having faced similar challenges, empathises with Turkiye,” the Somali Foreign Ministry.

Qatar expressed support for Turkiye in all measures to maintain security and stability.

The Foreign Ministry statement conveyed Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Turkiye. – BERNAMA
