KOTA SAMARAHAN: The National Pedagogy and Teacher Education Conference for the Sarawak Zone (PedaTED2024) aimed on empowering educators to integrate research and innovation into their teaching methods, underscoring that 21st-century teachers should be actively involved in educational research to improve pedagogical practices.

Tun Abdul Razak Teacher Education Institute (IPG) director Yahya Sidek said during his speech on Thursday (Oct 24) that research not only enhances classroom practices but also serves as a tool for solving educational challenges, thus enriching the profession as a whole.

Highlighting the significance of research and innovation in the teaching profession, the director emphasised that educators in Sarawak are keenly aware of its importance in contemporary education.

“With 58 research papers and 96 innovative projects from across Malaysia presented at the event, the conference demonstrated the strong commitment of educators to advancing pedagogical methods through continuous exploration.

“The conference also encouraged educators to pursue innovative teaching strategies tailored to the diverse cognitive abilities and learning styles of students. This approach, the director noted, is crucial in transforming conventional teaching methods to meet the needs of today’s digitally advanced education landscape,” he said.
