SRI AMAN: The Banting-Gunung Lesong-Engkranji Road Project is expected to be fully completed in the first quarter of 2027.

Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang officiated the earth-breaking programme with a miring ceremony at the project site on Wednesday (Oct 23).

It is understood that the project, valued at RM80 million, is under the supervision of the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA), aiming to connect the 7km road from Banting to Gunung Lesong and Engkranji.

The project implementation period is 30 months, starting on Sept 11, 2023 and it is expected to be fully completed by March 10, 2027.

Mong said that with this road, local residents will be able to work on their previously unused land.

“Residents in the Engkranji, Semulong, and Munggu Sawa areas will also be able to use the Bukit Balau-Banting road once it is completed, making it easier for them to conduct their affairs in their administrative area in Lingga.

“A plan for the construction of a road from Semulong to Langgir has also been made, and if the road is completed and connected to the coastal road, it will facilitate and shorten their journey to Kuching,” he said.

Also present was SADA Special Administrative Officer Datuk Indit Bangai.
