KUCHING: The Sarawak Immigration Department arrested 28 foreign individuals around the district on Wednesday (Oct 23).
The operation targeted locations such as commercial premises, reflexology centres, food establishments, premises suspected of being involved in illegal online gambling, and residential homes.
According to a department statement today, immigration enforcement officers examined 81 individuals for their documentation and of these, 28 were detained.
The foreign detainees, including 12 women, were detained for various offences, such as not possessing valid travel documents, overstaying, and not holding valid passes to remain in Malaysia.
They are being investigated under the Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The public is encouraged to report the presence of undocumented migrants in their areas through online channels or directly to the nearest Immigration Enforcement Office.
