KUCHING: Sarawak media fraternity plays an important role as a communication bridge between PETRONAS and the community.

PETRONAS’ Group Strategic Relations and Communications general manager, Jalina Joheng underscored that the media coverage in this region has greatly helped PETRONAS find opportunities and shape growth and progress, both domestically and globally.

“I would like to express my appreciation to all Sarawak media for their visionary news reports, fair and objective coverage that has supported PETRONAS to continue serving as an energy partner for Sarawak.

“PETRONAS highly values all the support and cooperation provided in our efforts to communicate with all our stakeholders,” she said while speaking at the Sarawak Media Appreciation Dinner at Hilton Hotel on Friday (Oct 25).

“Therefore, we are committed to continuing to support all initiatives, including the upcoming Kenyalang Journalism Awards 2024, which can inspire the field of journalism by setting higher standards of excellence and greater aspirations for what can be achieved through effective news reporting,” she supplemented.

Jalina stated that PETRONAS’ long-standing history with Sarawak has enabled it to make significant contributions to the shared prosperity of the state and supported its ambition to develop a dynamic oil and gas sector.

With the recent achievements in clean energy, Jalina emphasised that PETRONAS and the Sarawak Government were working steadfastly to realise Sarawak’s aspirations towards a low-carbon economy.

She also reiterated that cooperation and partnerships with Sarawak may require more media coverage.

“PETRONAS looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Sarawak media for years to come,” she said.
