KUCHING: Teamwork was key for KRFC Blackcatz in their impressive 26-12 victory against Asajaya Rugby Club A in the Cup final at the Song Kheng Hai Sevens 3rd Edition, held at the Song Kheng Hai Rugby Field.

After the Cup final against Asajaya Rugby Club A, KRFC Blackcatz captain Mohd Khairul Amrie Jafree emphasised the importance of teamwork, stating it was vital from the team’s first game to the final.

“Teamwork was crucial from the start. The team’s performance was excellent, and the players were in good condition,” he told New Sarawak Tribune on Saturday (Oct 27).

He noted that the team’s strategy was executed effectively, following the game plan established by the coaches.

“We adhered to the strategies and patterns of play that were outlined,” he said.

KRFC Blackcatz took home a cash prize of RM5,000, while the runners-up, Asajaya Rugby Club A, received RM2,500.

Mohd Khairul, a teacher at SMK Tarat, also praised the organisers of the Song Kheng Hai Rugby Sevens for their excellent work.  The 28-year-old winger looks up to New Zealand’s Josevate Taliga “Joe” Rokocoko, who also plays in his position.
