Body of missing man recovered from river

BINTULU: The body of a young man who reportedly fell into the Sungai Ngigu on Saturday night was recovered by search and rescue (SAR) teams on Monday morning.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old IIron Dennis, was found at approximately 9.59 am, around 300 metres from where he was initially reported to have fallen on October 26 at 7:30 pm.
It was reported that IIron was working on a barge near a jetty when he accidentally fell into the river, calling for help as he struggled in the water.
A friend of IIron, who heard his cries, immediately jumped into the river in an attempt to save him. However, despite the friend’s efforts, IIron was overcome by the current and drowned.
