KUCHING: Head of State (TYT), Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, will officiate the newly built Al-Haj Mosque in Kampung Jerijeh on Nov 1.
Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh stated that the new mosque can accommodate up to 1,000 congregants.
Len Talif, who is also the Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, added that the mosque’s total construction cost amounted to RM7 million.
“With this new mosque, all villages in the Kuala Rajang constituency have now been developed, with Kampung Jerijeh being the last village to receive a new mosque.
“Funding provided under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) was RM4.5 million, but with additional expenses for fencing and other features, the total cost of the mosque’s development is approximately RM7 million,” he explained.
He made these remarks after a courtesy visit to Wan Junaidi at Astana Negeri on Monday (Oct 28).
Construction of Al-Haj Mosque in Kampung Jerijeh began in 2020 and was completed last year.
Several programmes will be held in conjunction with the mosque’s opening ceremony, including a congregational prayer led by the State Imam and a Khutbah recitation by the State Mufti.
After the mosque’s officiation, Wan Junaidi’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, will visit the weaving centre in Kampung Rajang, located about 15 minutes from the mosque.
Also present during the courtesy visit were Mukah Division Resident, Datuk Kueh Lei Poh; Tanjung Manis District Officer, Ismail Kasah; Special Administrative Officer to Len Talif, Datuk Mazlan Mohamad; and the director of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Mu’al Suaud.
