KUCHING: The Breakoff Esport Challenge 2024, Sarawak’s first EAFC 11 vs 11 football esports tournament, concluded successfully at the Centre for Technical Excellence (CENTEXS) Sarawak on Sunday (Oct 27).
Co-organized by Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), Malaysian Anti-Drug Association (Pemadam) Sarawak, and CENTEXS, the event aimed to nurture local esports talent and raise awareness about cyber gambling and drug abuse.
“Through this event, participants not only showcased their skills in electronic sports but also learned basic entrepreneurship through activities like the Kuching Carboot Sale,” said the organisers in a statement.
The tournament featured 32 PUBG Mobile teams and 6 EAFC Club 11 vs 11 teams.
Team GB06 emerged as the PUBG Mobile champion, while Team Petra Esport clinched the EAFC Club 11 vs 11 title.
Over 500 attendees, including youth and esports enthusiasts, attended the two-day event.
It was supported by sponsors like Gadget Fusion, Republic of Gaming, and Logitech, as well as collaborations with KRASK, Anti-Drug Squad, National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sarawak, and esports teams.
Pemadam’s treatment bureau chief and AADK Sarawak director Abdul Hamediee Ibrahim officiated at the closing ceremony.
