KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) has issued a total of 177 non-compliance notices to motorists during a recent special operation codenamed ‘Op Kenderaan Perdagangan’.
According to the department, these notices followed inspections on 780 vehicles across Kuching, Serian, and Sibu yesterday (Oct 28).
In Kuching, motorcycle enforcement unit inspected 175 vehicles around the city, issuing 70 notices for various offenses. In Serian, operations along Jalan Serian-Kuching involved 110 vehicle inspections, resulting in the issuance of 28 non-compliance notices.
Meanwhile, the Sibu operation unit inspected 405 vehicles around Sibu town, leading to 51 notices issued to motorists.
Aside from the Sibu town operation, RTD’s Stapang Enforcement Station also inspected 90 vehicles along Jalan Pan Borneo Sibu-Bintulu, issuing 28 notices for various offenses.
Offenses detected across the three districts included expired driver’s licences, expired road tax, failure to wear seat belts, lack of insurance coverage, overloading, disregarding traffic signals, violating permit conditions, and other technical violations.
The department urged all road users to comply with traffic laws. Members of the public can also report traffic-related complaints through the e-Aduan@jpj app or via http://jpj.spab.gov.my.
