“The path forward requires each of us to act with intention and responsibility, with a collective focus on a sustainable future.”
He was speaking the closing of the Sarawak Sustainable Insight (SSI) 2024 event on Tuesday (Oct 29).
He said it was inspiring to witness the dedication and expertise shared throughout the conference.
“We began this morning with an insightful fireside chat on ‘Securing a Future Safe for All’ from our moderator and panellists Professor Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, and Shahril Azuar Jimin.
“They reminded us that creating resilient societies requires bold strategies and dedicated cross-sector partnerships.
“From transportation to sustainability, we are building the structures to ensure that our state’s development serves not only economic goals but also environmental and community well-being,” he said.
Dr Hazland noted that in the panel discussion on ‘Sustainable Energy Future for Sarawak,’ the session explored strategies driving the transition to greener energy solutions.
“Panellists such as Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain and Datuk Sharbini Suhaili shared insights into the significant efforts Sarawak Energy and Petros are leading to power our state with renewable energy sources.
“Our emphasis on hydropower, alongside innovative projects like the hydrogen economy roadmap, underscores our commitment to reducing carbon emissions while building an energy-secure future for Sarawak,” he said.
Also, he said there was a vibrant discussion on the future of urban transport during the ‘Driving Sustainable Transport and Beyond,’ session.
