MIRI: The Miri City Health Clinic Advisory Panel will host a health camp under the theme “Health for All, All for Health” aiming to promote wellness and health literacy among the community.

The event will take place on November 2 at E-Mart Riam foyer located on the ground floor, starting from 8 am to 5 pm and will be officiated by the Minister of Transport Sarawak, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

Counselor Jeffery Phang, chairman of the Health Care Committee said that the programme was designed to align with the government’s objectives of fostering healthy lifestyles and enhancing health knowledge among Malaysians.

“This event will strengthen health promotion efforts through partnership between government agencies and the communities,” Phang said.

The health camp is open to teenagers, adults, and senior citizens, as the organiser expects an attendance of over 500 people.

During the event, visitors will have access to a variety of health services, including health screenings such as NHSI, BSSK, PEKAB40, Audit-10, and mental wellness checkup.

Other screenings will cover eye health, with specific risk assessments for conditions like retinopathy and glaucoma, as well as dental check-ups.

There will be multiple exhibition booths focused on specific health areas. For Women’s Health it will focus on cervical and breast cancer screening.

Meanwhile for the Men’s Health, it advocates on having a healthy mind, such as: Mental health resources; Senior Health: Fall prevention education, led by physiotherapists; Pharmacy Booth: “Know Your Medicine” exhibit and Healthy Nutrition: “War on Sugar” exhibit by dietetics experts.

The camp will also include talks on health topics such as drug and supplement registration, led by pharmacist Doreen Teng.

Mohd Khairol Mustafa Kamal, a nutrition science officer, will lead a talk encouraging visitors to “Fight Sugar” and promote low-sugar lifestyles with the slogan “Iboh Manis Gilak, We Are Sweet Enough!”

For the younger attendees, there will be a coloring competition for children aged 4-6 years to add fun, family friendly elements to the event.
