LUNDU: A 46-year-old woman was left homeless after a fire partially destroyed her single-storey house in Kampung Serayan here today.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 10.56 am incident.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Lundu station were dispatched to the scene, about 18 km away, after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, the firemen performed the extinguishing deed using water sourced from their fire truck.

The flames, which caused 70 per cent damage to the house, was brought under control at 11.36 am.

Overhaul works were conducted to ensure that there was no risk of reignition before the operation concluded at 12.04 pm.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
