KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is committed to protect the health and well-being of the community by focusing on the importance of cleanliness at food premises, and to combat the rising number of unlicensed food establishment.
MPP Chairman, Tan Kai said the council’s Public Health, Environmental, and Municipal Services Standing Committee have introduced a new, comprehensive enforcement policy to address these issues.
Effective immediately, the council will take a stronger stance on enforcing sanitation and licensing regulations across all food establishments.
The key measures in this policy include stringent inspections, immediate compliance orders, closure of non-compliant premises and a safer culinary experience for all.
“In response to the growing concerns about unsanitary and unlicensed food premises, the council is implementing a robust enforcement policy aimed at strengthening consumer health protections.
“This policy introduces enhanced enforcement measures, including increased inspections, fines, and potential closures of food establishments that fail to meet public health standards,” he said.
Tan Kai urges all food operators to familiarise themselves with health regulations and to prioritise compliance.
He pointed out that MPP remain dedicated to supporting businesses in maintaining a safe and healthy community and encourages the public to assist by reporting unsanitary conditions at any food establishment.
“Informed consumers and responsible operators can ensure a healthier, safer community for all,” he said.
