SIBU: Two young OKU (Persons with Disabilities) under the care of a single parent at Jalan Tiongkik here has recently caught the attention of a caring councillor, Kevin Lau Kor Jie.

Lau, who is also Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Development Team leader, was accompanied by an official from the State Welfare Department to hand over the approved welfare monthly financial aid letter at the recipient’s residence.

Despite being OKU, he said the two individuals still try to do some light jobs to earn hourly wages for their own pocket money.

He hopes the financial aid will be able to reduce the burden faced by the family.

“We also hope this will alleviate their grandmother and aunty’s hardships so that they will be able to take better care of themselves.

“We thank the family for approaching us and we really appreciate the Sibu Welfare Department for cooperating with us on this case,” Lau added.
