KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) is committed to delivering authentic and accurate information from the government to the public, said Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
He said UKAS ensures the unit maintains an important role in accurately and authentically conveying various government initiatives to the people, without involving political “spin.”
“UKAS provides timely information to the public about Sarawak government’s policies and initiatives through various platforms.
“In UKAS briefings, rest assured there is no political campaigning. We strive to avoid any form of political ‘spin’ in our explanations because the information provided is full of integrity,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Current Issues Explanation and Clarification Tour Series 2/2024 at Waterfront Hotel here on Thursday.
He also said that UKAS prioritises ensuring the community fully understands the ongoing initiatives of the Sarawak government.
“We provide information that is authentic, accurate, and truthful. What matters most is that the community comprehends what the Sarawak government is working towards,” he said.
Abdullah added that UKAS is working to bridge the information gap between residents and the Sarawak government through news and such tour programmes.
Also present were UKAS director Samuel Simon and political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Kho Teck Wan.
