Sarikei MP secures allocation of RM200,000 for St Anthony’s Church SARIKEI: Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has successfully secured an allocation of RM200,000 for St Anthony’s Church Sarikei for construction purposes. The application was made through the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor), with Huang showing great concern for religious development and having allocated RM3.3 million to St Anthony’s Church Sarikei over the years for its development purposes. “I stated that the government encourages religious growth, as religious beliefs can foster harmony among various races and bring peace to the community. “As the people’s representative for this area for over eight years, I have secured significant allocations from the government for basic infrastructure development, improving facilities in schools, and the development of Sarikei to enhance the standard of living for the people, aiming to better safeguard the interests of Sarikei’s residents.” He further stated that Sarawak is fortunate under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg with the GPS government continuing to enjoy political and economic stability, bringing progress and prosperity to Sarawak and Sarikei. Huang has allocated funds through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) amounting to RM500,000 in 2018, RM650,000 in 2019, RM300,000 in 2020, RM200,000 in 2021, RM200,000 in 2022, RM200,000 in 2023, and RM200,000 in 2024. He also obtained funds through Unifor, amounting to RM300,000 in 2018, RM300,000 in 2021, RM250,000 in 2022, and RM200,000 in 2024, totaling RM3.3 million, excluding other allocations obtained. Rev Fr James Ting of St Anthony’s Church Sarikei expressed gratitude to Huang for the financial support given to the church, allowing it to grow and have a grand and beautiful building. Rev Fr Ting noted that the church will cooperate with Huang to develop Sarikei.
