SADONG JAYA: The newly upgraded Masjid Darul Iman, a symbol of Islamic civilisation with design elements inspired by Moroccan, Andalusian and Portuguese architecture, is now ready for use after an extensive RM12.96 million renovation.
Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo expressed enthusiasm for the mosque’s unique design, which includes four minarets representing the four rightly guided caliphs who played a vital role in spreading Islam.
“I am deeply grateful to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for approving the RM12.96 million allocation for this project.
“Although the construction itself cost RM11.35 million, the remaining funds covered architectural and consultation fees,” said Aidel at the mosque’s upgrading ceremony, Friday (Nov 1).
As the local assemblyman, he noted the pride this mosque brings to the Sadong Jaya constituency, stating that its architectural beauty reflects the community’s heritage.
The design, meticulously crafted by the project’s architect, took nearly three years to complete and has been warmly welcomed by residents.
Additionally, the Pusat Tahfiz Darul Iman Sadong Jaya now operates on the mosque’s grounds, offering Quranic memorisation and recitation classes that have drawn many students.
The tahfiz centre has already produced outstanding students, with some representing the area at divisional and state levels.
“We feel fortunate to have both the mosque and the tahfiz centre, which we believe will strengthen Islamic teachings within our community,” Aidel added.
