SIBU: The Sarawak Government marked a significant milestone yesterday (Nov 2) by awarding 48 Anak Sarawak students with laptop vouchers worth RM3,000 each in its ongoing efforts to support educational advancement.

The symbolic handing over ceremony took place at the Sibu Indoor Stadium, as part of the state government’s commitment to enhancing digital literacy and access to technology for students across the state.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD), was part of its broader effort to bridge the digital divide and equip students with the tools necessary for academic success and innovation in the digital age.

This is in line with Sarawak’s vision of becoming a technologically advanced and progressive state.

Gracing the event as the guest of honour was MEITD Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee who represented its Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

In its press statement, MEITD said the free laptop initiative received a total of 17,832 applications, demonstrating the strong need for such programmes.
