BINTULU: Human Development Diploma student of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu campus, Benedick Adam Jawan, is the epitome of perseverance in pursuing dreams.

He has fallen back on the sacrifices of his parents — his mother is a homemaker and his father is a truck driver — to inspire him.

With great determination, he worked at a plywood packing factory to raise money to cover his first semester fees at the university.

And his perseverance and hard work finally paid off when he managed to win the Kursi Tok Nan scholarship — an award that shows that his sacrifices were not in vain.

“I take my parents as an inspiration because they never get tired of raising us siblings,” he said.

Benedick believes that success demands endless effort and perseverance.

“Where there is a will, there is a way,” he said, adding that every dream can be achieved as long as one has  the courage to face challenges and not give up easily.
