KUCHING: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has made a meaningful contribution to water sports safety by donating 30 life jackets to the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB).
This initiative reflected BPHB’s commitment to fostering safe practices at water sports events, particularly in response to the recent challenges faced during such gatherings.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, BPHB made this donation following a recent accident involving regatta participants two weeks ago.
Recognising the potential risks involved in water sports, BPHB said it aimed to support local authorities in taking proactive steps to ensure a safer environment for all participants.
The symbolic handover ceremony was held at the ‘Bintulu Port Corporate Box’ at the Kuching Waterfront, aligning with the ongoing Sarawak Regatta 2024.
During the ceremony, SRB controller Lieutenant Col Ding Tiew Wong (Rtd) received the life jackets from BPHB group chief executive officer Ruslan Abdul Ghani.
The event was witnessed by BPHB board of directors’ member, Datuk Seri Fong Joo Chung, and the BPHB Leadership Team.
