KUCHING: State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki officiated at the handover of the Sarawak flag to the delegation heading to Japan and Sri Lanka at a ceremony at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, here today.
The Sarawak Public Service delegation, led by Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) director Superi Awang Said, will represent the state at the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) 2024 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from Nov 11 to 14.
The delegation, comprising 35 officers, is set to compete and share expertise in innovation at the prestigious annual event, which draws practitioners from around the globe to collaborate on enhancing productivity.
Four innovative and creative groups (KIK) that won the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Awards (SCSICA) 2023 will showcase Sarawak’s innovation on an international stage.
Representing Sarawak at ICQCC 2024 are Group LANDS TAHAI Q from the Department of Lands and Surveys, Limbang Division; Group EAGLE from Sibu Municipal Council; Group IPOK from the Mukah Resident’s Office; and Group TECHSKAP from the Bintulu Development Authority.
Following the ICQCC convention, a benchmarking visit to Japan is scheduled from Dec 1 to 6 for 19 officers.
The visit acknowledges the commitment and achievements of Sarawak’s KIK groups during ICQCC 2022 in Jakarta, where they garnered several prestigious awards.
The Japan visit aims to immerse delegates in innovative practices and quality service enhancement methods through expert-led workshops, simulations, and hands-on training.
Three standout groups from ICQCC 2022, including the SIRIUS PRIME team from Miri City Council, which earned the Prime Gold Award, along with the SASSOKU TECH and INNOTECH Q9 teams from the Department of Lands and Surveys in Kuching and Bintulu, respectively, will be among the delegates for the Japan visit.
Superi, who also chairs both delegations, was optimistic about the potential impact of these experiences on Sarawak’s public service.
“Our participation in ICQCC 2024 and this benchmarking visit not only offers a platform to exchange ideas with international experts but also reinforces our commitment to innovation and transformation within Sarawak’s public service,” he said during his remarks at the flag-handover ceremony.
