THE ‘Proposed Roads Linking Miri-Marudi, Marudi-Mulu (Long Melinau) And Long Panai-Long Lama (MMMLL)’, overseen by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), is slated for tender in Quarter 1 of the upcoming year.
Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, disclosed that the project is in the tender documentation phase, with construction set to begin in Quarter 3 of 2025.
“The project is projected to reach completion by Quarter 3 of 2029,” he affirmed.
These statements were made in response to inquiries from Adam Yii Siew Sang (GPS-Pujut) concerning the road development project’s progress, the status of its tender process, and the anticipated commencement and conclusion dates for construction. This exchange occurred during the question-and-answer session at the second meeting of the third session of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) on the current date (Nov 12).
Providing additional insights into the ‘Proposed Roads Linking Miri-Marudi, Marudi-Mulu (Long Melinau) And Long Panai-Long Lama (MMMLL)’, the Sadong Jaya assemblyman outlined the following details:
- Project Cost: RM 3.8 Billion
- Project Scope:
i. Proposed road JKR R5 standard from Eastwood Junction, Miri, to Marudi, approximately 42km.
ii. Proposed road JKR R3 standard from Marudi to Kuala Melinau and Long Panai to Long Lama, covering about 100km.
iii. Preliminary plans for 9 major bridges and 14 minor bridges.
iv. Elevated roads will be constructed where necessary through challenging terrain and soft soils to minimize environmental impact, particularly in areas designated for carbon-nature-based projects (such as industrial tree plantation areas). - Construction Period: 48 months.
- Project Packages:
i. Package 1 – Miri to Marudi (1A) and Long Panai to Long Lama (1B) – 68km
ii. Package 2 – Marudi to Mulu – 76km.
