KUCHING: A group of 41 former senior officers and veteran members of the RTM Veterans Association (PVRTM) from Sarawak, Sabah, and Kuala Lumpur departed for West Kalimantan today (Nov 13).
Led by its president Zohara Gani Bathusa and advisor Datuk Norhyati Ismail, the group was embarking on a five-day journey through Indonesia’s Kalimantan Barat (KALBAR).
The trip, scheduled from Nov 13 to 17, is a recreational retreat aimed at fostering camaraderie among PVRTM members.
The group will explore the cities of Sambas, Singkawang, or Pontianak, an approximately eight-hour journey by road.
“The group will also undertake a goodwill visit to Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) and the Malaysian Consulate in Pontianak,” it said a statement.
At RRI, the group will participate in a morning exercise session with RRI staff and even have the opportunity to go on air at the RRI radio studio.
Upon their return, the group will make a courtesy call to the director of RTM Kuching on Nov 19.
It is hoped that this programme will provide them with new experiences and deepen their understanding of the shared culture of the Nusantara region.
This visit to West Kalimantan marks the second programme organised by the association, following a successful tour of Media City from June 5 to 8 this year.
