A DUAL carriageway project, approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Sept 2, is crucial to address traffic congestion that could discourage people from visiting Daro.
“Therefore, I request that the relevant authorities inform us when the implementation of this project is expected to begin,” said Safiee Ahmad (GPS-Daro).
He also suggested that the involvement of several companies should be considered for the commercial development of the Daro Paddy Scheme project.
“It needs to be pursued as soon as possible, and I understand that Felcra Berhad has already conducted a site visit to the scheme area on Sept 25.
“A joint venture for this project, for example, to develop the paddy scheme, would help enhance its capacity and competitiveness, in line with the government’s goal to transform and empower the agricultural sector,” he said in support of the Sarawak Budget ’25 on Wednesday (Nov 13).
On another note, he also suggested that youth be exposed to international platforms, beyond the programmes and activities already approved for youth empowerment.
“I hope this will also be implemented by providing opportunities and allocating specific funds for youth organisations like Saberkas, to send participants to international events or programmes.
“In this way, it will not only provide exposure and experience but also help develop talent and build self-confidence among youth in the state to compete with youth from all over the world,” he added.
He also requested clarification on when the construction of the new SK Batang Lassa in Daro by the federal government, specifically the Ministry of Education, will commence.
He made the query following the approval of an eight-acre site for the project.
