KUCHING: The Sri Aman Benak Festival 2024 Committee, led by Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation
and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, paid a courtesy visit to Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah on Friday.
The visit aimed to extend a formal invitation to Abdul Karim to attend the festival, scheduled for November 29 to December 1 in Sri Aman.
“We also discussed potential funding support from the ministry to ensure the event’s success,” Harden said.
This year’s Benak Festival promises a thrilling lineup of 16 activities, culminating in the prestigious Regata Benak Batang Lupar.
The regatta offers a grand prize of RM25,000 for the title of Raja Sungai (King of the River).
The festival celebrates Sri Aman’s unique tidal bore phenomenon and attracts visitors from across Sarawak and beyond.
