SERIAN: Gunung Silabur, a popular tourist attraction in Tebedu, is set to receive a significant tourism boost with a RM5 million allocation from the Greater Kuching Coordination and Development Agency (GKCDA).
Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada said that the funds would be used to construct accommodation facilities, aiming to attract both domestic and international tourists.
“With improved accessibility and comfortable accommodation, we hope to further stimulate the tourism industry in Kampung Lobang Batu,” he said during the closing ceremony of the Socio-Economic and Stakeholder Engagement for the Empowerment Programme of Village Administration Institutions and Rural Communities at Kampung Lobang Batu Mawang 2024 on Saturday (Nov 16).
In addition to Gunung Silabur, he revealed that Gunung Bung Sadung in Kampung Taee will also undergo development, with a RM21 million allocation.
This project, currently in the documentation stage by the Public Works Department (PWD) Serian, aims to build roads, basic infrastructure and even a mini train, similar to the one at Penang Hill.
“We anticipate the project site handover for Gunung Bung Sadung in 2025,” he added.
During the ceremony, he also approved a RM100,000 allocation for the upgrading of the Kampung Lobang Batu Mawang Multipurpose Hall.
Also present was Tebedu District Officer George Gerard Entigar.
