LUNDU: Over 1,200 participants gathered at Pantai Pugu to celebrate family values at the ‘Kasih Keluarga’ camp.
The three-day camp, organised by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) Sarawak in collaboration with various agencies, featured 300 tents spread across 1.3 kilometres of the beach.
Datuk Dr Maziah Che Yusoff, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), commended the event for its success in promoting family values and strengthening community bonds.
“Programmes like this are crucial for bolstering family values and fostering cooperation among government agencies, private sectors, and NGOs,” she said during the closing ceremony yesterday(Nov 17).
The ‘Kasih Keluarga’ camp, based on the K.A.S.I.H family vacation concept, combined education and entertainment through activities focused on spirituality, community, health, arts and culture.
“The camping area was divided into three zones: Kasih Sayang, Harmoni, and Sihat,” she added.
“Activities included Malam Kesenian Rasa Sayang, Wayang Pacak, and competitions like Khemah Tercantik and Istana Pasir Tercantik.”
She hoped that the programme would inspire individuals and families to prioritise family life and contribute to a stronger, more harmonious society.
