THE Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development is organising two significant events under the BIMP-EAGA (Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area) framework aimed at enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the region.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee said these initiatives reflect Sarawak’s commitment to advance education and skills development, ensuring that the state remains competitive on the global stage.
“The ministry will host the TVET seminar titled ‘Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employability’ on Nov 20 to 21, followed by the 4th BIMP-EAGA TVET Conference on Dec 11 to 12, 2024 at the Imperial Hotel, Kuching,” he said.
“Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has confirmed his presence to officiate at the 4th BIMP-EAGA TVET Conference 2024 and deliver the keynote address,” said Sagah, highlighting the importance of the upcoming events in strengthening regional collaboration and advancing TVET initiatives.
He was speaking at a press conference after delivering his ministerial winding-up-speech today.

“These programmes are key deliverables for 2024 under the BIMP-EAGA Socio-Cultural and Education (SCE) Cluster, focused on fostering collaboration between TVET leaders and stakeholders across the region,” he said.
Both events are expected to attract experts from various countries including Australia, Brunei, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and other BIMP-EAGA member nations.
