SAR teams mobilised to find octogenarian

SIBU: A search and rescue (SAR) operation is underway to locate an 83-year-old man, Kedri Hamjah, who has been missing from his home in Kampung Jeriah, Jalan Oya since last Friday (Nov 15).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said that a police report was lodged by the victim’s son at 4.31 pm on Saturday (Nov 16).
“The son realised that his father was not at home around 2 pm on Friday and has not returned since,” Zulkipli said in a statement.
The police, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), and Civil Defence Force (APM) jointly launched a search operation.
The public is urged to assist in the search by contacting Sibu Jaya police chief and investigating officer Insp Rodua Tayo at 013-8420588 or the Sibu Jaya police station at 084-236343.
It is understood that the victim has previously gone missing twice and returned after two days on both occasions.
However, his prolonged absence this time has raised concerns for his safety.
