THE Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development is committed to forming a dedicated committee comprising athletes, sports experts and consultants with specialised expertise aligned to the needs of our sports facilities.
Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the committee will undertake research to identify key areas for development, including sports that show strong potential for growth, and will work to enhance facilities that support these priority sports.
“This collaborative approach will ensure the facilities provided align with both current and future needs, enabling athletes to achieve their full potential.
“By focusing on these identified sports, we aim to provide an environment where athletes can focus on their training and achieve excellence.”
Abdul Karim said this during his ministerial winding-up-speech, Tuesday (Nov 19).
“Furthermore, this initiative is part of a larger succession planning strategy, ensuring that retiring athletes have capable successors, thus sustaining Sarawak’s legacy of sport excellence.”
Abdul Karim stressed that, to ensure that our facilities remain in top condition, his ministry work with qualified suppliers and contractors who possess the expertise to carry out necessary maintenance and repairs.
“Through this continued commitment, we aim to provide our athletes with the best possible environment to train and compete at their highest level.”
