KUCHING: Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to strengthen their sustainability practices will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights at the upcoming Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide (SEDG) Workshop.
Organised by Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM) and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), the workshop aims to simplify and streamline Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosure processes for local businesses.
Scheduled for Friday, Nov 22, the workshop will run from 9am to 12.30pm at the Temenggong Datuk Yek Siew Hui Hall, Bintulu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI).
It is supported by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) and BCCCI.
The SEDG workshop is specifically designed to help SMEs navigate the growing emphasis on corporate sustainability from global supply chains and investors.
The guide simplifies ESG reporting, enabling businesses to meet the expectations of stakeholders, including customers, banks, and regulators.
Participants will explore a range of crucial topics, including Sustainability and ESG in Business: Understanding how ESG principles impact business operations; Sustainability Definitions and Frameworks: Clarifying concepts to guide businesses on sustainable practices; Overview of the Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide: Practical insights into the SEDG’s features and benefits; and Review of SEDG Disclosures: Analysing real-world examples to demonstrate effective ESG reporting.
Experts will offer professional guidance on optimising ESG practices to align with international standards, helping SMEs boost competitiveness and ensure long-term sustainability.
