KUCHING: Magnum Group (Magnum) has planted 1,700 trees in three years across Malaysia as part of its efforts to conserve the nation’s flora and fauna.

According to a Magnum statement, the initiative under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm MagnumCares, is part of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainability Goals (UNSDG) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

A total of  65 employees volunteered in a tree-planting campaign at the Kuala Selangor Nature Park this year.

The event, supported by the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), saw over 500 saplings planted, sourced from the indigenous Orang Asli community in RPS Banun, Gerik, Perak.

“Magnum is committed to not only preserving the environment but also supporting the communities that depend on them.

“By empowering local indigenous efforts, Magnum ensures that the communities benefit sustainably while contributing to the restoration and protection of their natural habitats,” the company said.

Magnum 4D Berhad executive director Krian Upatkoon, and Magnum Group chief commercial officer Datuk Chan Chee Fai attended the event.

“This CSR initiative championed by MagnumCares showcases our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. We take pride in actively involving our team in preserving our planet and driving forward the fight against climate change,” said Upatkoon.

Meanwhile, Chan highlighted Magnum’s expanded efforts alongside MNS in expanding its tree-planting efforts, resulting in 1,700 trees planted over the past three years.

“Each tree symbolises our growing commitment to conserving habitats and protecting our planet for future generations,” he added.

The Kuala Selangor Nature Park has increasingly become a refuge for diverse wildlife and habitats, attracting over 150 species of birds and hosting an estimated 100,000 wading birds during their annual migration.

Magnum said it remains steadfast in spearheading initiatives that champion environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and social responsibility.

“This commitment reinforces the belief that corporate success can align with a healthier planet. Together with its dedicated employees, volunteers, and partner organisations, MagnumCares continues to demonstrate the impactful results of corporations and communities working towards a more sustainable future,” it said.
