KUCHING: The Bau Youth Carnival 2024 aims to empower young people by placing them at the forefront of event organisation, providing a platform to showcase their skills, creativity and potential.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep noted the event’s focus on youth engagement, talent development and cultural promotion.

“That being said, this event is also an opportunity to look for what we call potential local talents. We are looking for them, and expose them towards events like this.

“We give the youth the opportunity to handle events like this, and the carnival drives youth involvement to diverse activities.”

Henry said this at a press conference for the upcoming carnival at the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) here, Friday (Nov 22).

Additionally, he stated that a basic platform must be present in order to enhance the development of talents among the youth.

“Because the moment the opportunity is there, they come in, participate and grab it, and start to explore.

“That being said, parents play an important role by encouraging and supporting them to be part of the event.”

On another note, organising chairman Joseph Emmanuel Rentap Ningkan said the carnival will begin from Nov 29 to Dec 1.

“The event underscores the region’s commitment to youth engagement and development, inspiring them to actively participate in community-building initiatives.

“The celebration of unity, culture, and the vibrant spirit of Bau’s community position the area as a hub of talent and creativity, contributing to its progressive and inclusive future.”

The carnival will be held at Redeems Centre, Singai with a total of 10,000 visitors expected to be present throughout the three-day carnival.
