KUCHING: Chung Hua Volleyball Team (CHVBT) captain Ho Zong Xuan is optimistic about his team’s chances at the 2024 YB Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian Volleyball Championship Kuching Open, confident they can secure the championship title.
As the tournament approaches, Ho, a key player for the CHVBT, has high expectations for his team.
“I have placed a lot of expectation on my team this year. I’m quite confident that we can win the tournament,” Ho told Sarawak Tribune today.
His leadership has been integral to CHVBT’s success, and he is determined to guide them to victory.
Ho also took the opportunity to highlight the challenges in the development of volleyball in Kuching. He emphasized that the city’s infrastructure and facilities were lagging behind, which limits the growth of the sport.
“Kuching’s volleyball development is quite outdated. As the capital of Sarawak, we don’t even have a fully indoor stadium dedicated to volleyball
“This lack of facilities is limiting opportunities for volleyball enthusiasts and makes hosting major tournaments a challenge.” he noted.
Despite these hurdles, Ho and the team remain focused on the upcoming tournament, which runs from Nov 27 to December 1 this year at the Multipurpose Hall of SJK Chung Hua Kim Choo Seng.
With the team in strong form, Ho believes they are ready to compete against top talents’ from the region and aim for the title.
As one of Kuching’s top volleyball teams, CHVBT are poised for an exciting and competitive championship, with their sights set firmly on victory.
