SIBU: What was reported as a house fire at Lorong Jerwit Barat 3 today (Nov 25) turned out to be a small hut in front of a house.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they initially received a distress call regarding a house fire at 1.55 am.
Firefighters from the Sibu central station were deployed to the scene to begin extinguishing the fire.
However, upon arrival, they found that the fire involved only a hut measuring 10 by 12 square feet located in front of a terrace house.
The extinguishing was carried out using water sourced from their fire truck, followed by overhaul works to ensure there was no risk of reignition.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation at 2.27 am.
