BINTULU: SeDidik Sarawak has allocated RM19.8 million for upgrading premises and RM20 million for purchasing new premises, aiming to reduce rental costs and improve the quality of early childhood education across the state.
SeDidik Sarawak general manager Ayub Dahari said this step was taken to ensure that the premises meet the regulations of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS), in addition to facilitating maintenance.
According to him, the Sarawak government is also concerned in providing allocations to improve the quality of early childhood education, in line with the government’s efforts to strengthen the comprehensive education programme in the state.
“It involves upgrading, renovation, providing quality learning materials, and exposure to digital technology in learning,” he said, in a speech read by SeDidik Sarawak Corporate Services Sector senior manager Siti Rodziah Bunsu Drahman at the SeDidik Sarawak Bintulu Zone Convocation Ceremony, on Sunday (Nov 24).
Ayub added that SeDidik emphasised efforts to digitise all its centres in the state, in line with Sarawak’s desire to move towards digitalisation.
SeDidik currently has 2,763 children and 104 centres across Sarawak, from Lundu to Lawas, with a target of reaching 109 centres, including in the interior.
“There are 82 kindergartens, 21 nurseries, and a pioneer daycare centre for children aged 7 to 12 in Bintulu,” he explained.
For the Bintulu Zone, there are 12 centres, including kindergartens, nurseries, and a daycare centre, with a total of 413 children.
This year, SeDidik Bintulu Zone received the Special Award from the Institute of Early Childhood Education, with Tadika SeDidik Kidurong from the group The Girls winning third place in the dance category at the Sarawak Kids Got Talent Competition.
SeDidik Sarawak is committed to providing educational programmes that focus not only on academics, but also on emotional, social, and moral development, with the aim of producing responsible leaders of the future.
