KUCHING: The Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) Water Polo Team of Sarawak emerged victorious at the 3rd Kuching Invitational Water Polo Cup 2024, held from November 21 to 24 at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre.
The local team claimed the gold medal, while Chinese Taipei took silver and St Andrew of Singapore secured bronze.
Despite a smaller pool of participants this year, the competition retained its intensity.
PASC head coach and event organiser Voon Yong Hui explained that only five teams participated this year due to a scheduling clash with school examinations and other competitions.
“The lineup included one team from Chinese Taipei, two from Singapore, and two from PASC.
“This year’s turnout was smaller compared to the 12 teams that competed last year, but the matches were no less competitive. We hope to see more teams return next year,” he said.
In the 2023 edition, the Chinese Swimming Club of Singapore took the championship, defeating the PASC team, while Singapore’s Aegir Water Polo Club claimed third place.
