KUCHING: Carlsberg Malaysia is celebrating its 55th anniversary with a significant RM343 million investment in a brewery transformation initiative.
This is the largest investment since the brewery’s inception in 1971.
“This investment underscores our commitment to quality, sustainability, and future growth,” said Stefano Clini, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia in a statement.
“As the first Carlsberg brewery outside Copenhagen, we are proud to be a pioneer and a significant Danish investment in Malaysia.”
The initiative aims to reduce the brewery’s environmental footprint and achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030.
A substantial RM200 million is allocated to upgrade bottling and canning lines, while RM140 million is earmarked for energy-efficient technologies and workplace safety enhancements.
Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Liew Chin Tong, along with Danish and EU ambassadors, officiated at the celebratory event.
Guests toured the upgraded facilities, which are designed to meet evolving consumer preferences and address climate change challenges.
