This coming March 1 to 3 will be an important history for the Bornean bikers as the International Bike Week 2019 will be held for the first time in Serian.
The programme located at Tasik Danu, Serian will transform the town into a benchmark as they receive participation from thousands of bikers from around Borneo namely Sarawak, Sabah, Labuan, Brunei Darusalam, Indonesia and even Kuala Lumpur.
The 1st Serian International Bike Week (SIBW) 2019 is a brain child of its organising chairman, Shafwan Mahri and supported by the Deputy Resident of Serian, Tuan Haji Mustafa.
The event is organised by PER3 together with the Serian Motor Club, and Serian’s Resident Office.
According to the event’s organising chairman, Shafwan, the programme will be held with the purpose to gather bikers from throughout the Borneo region. Through this gathering, the event will also hopefully strengthen the bond between bikers throughout.
“Our target for participation for the 1st SIBW 2019 is around 1,500 comprising dozens of various bike clubs throughout the region”.
“We are also expecting the event to attract more than 10,000 visitors. Thus, we hope that our programme can meet its target numbers,” explained Shafwan at a recent meeting of SIBW.
Shafwan also mentioned that at the same time, through the organisation of SIBW, Serian will be a hype location for bikers.
During the event, more exciting programmes will be held to make it more eventful and entertaining for the bikers and visitors in Serian.
Part of the programmes are FISBW RC International Powerboat Open Race 2019, Mr Badan Cantik, Miss Serian Bike Week 2019, Battle Of The Band, Bikeshow and an archery workshop.
Other programmes include exotic animal exhibition, motorcycle convoy, lucky draw, karaoke and archery.
“I hope that this coming March, the participation numbers will increase and meet our target. I also would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to our co-organisers, sponsors, and clubs that will attend the 1st SIBW, as well as the crew members and others who are involved with this programme.
“Your support is our utmost appreciation in order for the event to be successful,” said Shafwan.
On March 2, there will be a launching ceremony of the 1st SIBW 2019 in the morning at Tasik Danu Serian.
The ceremony is scheduled to be attended by P.199 Parliament member, Datuk Seri Richard Riot who is also the event’s patron. Also scheduled to be at the event is N.23 Bukit Semuja ADUN, John Ilus, as the advisor of the event.
After the launching ceremony, there will be a walkabout session at the exhibition stalls happening during the SIBW.
In the same evening, there will be a dinner ceremony to celebrate new bikers that register during the event, followed by a memento presentation to clubs that participate, and a performance by our country’s rock icon, Mus May.
For the 1st SIBW 2019, the VIP registration package will be priced at RM 150, which is limited to 300 participants only.
Participants will be given a long sleeve t-shirt (lycra material), eligible to participate in the lucky draw to get the YAMAHA Y15 motorcycle, as well as the dinner session at the Community Council Hall (Dewan Masyarakat). Participants will also get a head scarf, event’s sticker, participation pass, and is eligible to any lucky draw during the event.
There is also a registration fee package for other riders. Package 1, available to all participants, either group or solo, will costs the participants RM80 each. For the fee, participants will be given a long sleeve lycra t-shirt, SIBW key scarf, and event’s sticker.
On the other hand, Package 2 costs RM60, inclusive of a long sleeve lycra t-shirt and event’s sticker. Package 3 costs RM50, and will see participants receiving a long sleeve lycra t-shirt and a SIBW sticker. Meanwhile, for Package 4 priced at RM 40, participants will receive a short sleeve lycra t-shirt and a SIBW sticker.
All packages are eligible to participate in any lucky draws during the event.
