KUCHING: Demand for flowers of various types and sizes have spiked as Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.

Although roadside vendors selling Valentine’s Day gifts are not as numerous as before, checks at several florists and restaurants in town have shown that the tradition is still trendy around this time of year.

Shan, 21, who works part-time at Lavender Flora shop at Jalan Padungan, said the demand for Valentine’s Day gifts has been high since last Monday.

“We are so busy now because we have received many orders from customers to decorate their gifts according to their preferences,” she said.

“Fortunately we managed to fulfil the orders on time since there are five of us working at the shop.”

A florist in Satok area was also found to have a similar situation. A staff member, Kimberly, said that sometimes they could not accept anymore orders because of so many orders for customized designs.
