MUKAH: Another strategic location in this town is set to be further developed for commercial purposes. Located near a hotel and three shopping centres, the site, which is about one hectare, was formerly occupied by a few wooden and semi-concrete houses.
A survey yesterday found that all the houses had been completely demolished. Based on a signboard at the site, the proposed development is for a few blocks of multi-storey commercial premises.
Commercial property development has seen a downtrend as of late.
The latest project at the old Oya Road, about five kilometres from town, was completed early last year. After its completion, there has not been any further property development.
Meanwhile, residents here are still waiting with bated breath for the proposed Mukah Central and Mukah City projects.
The two projects, believed to be high-end properties, were announced between two and four years ago.
It is learnt that during the announcement, Mukah Central has a multi-storey hotel, among other components under the proposed project.
