KUCHING: President of the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Captain Datuk Shahruddin Omar addressed the members of PVATM Sarawak during a field programme yesterday at Baruk Redeem Singai, in Bau.
About 60 persons comprising committee members, 21 branch heads and secretaries in Sarawak attended the function.
The programme addressed how the members manage their fellow veterans.
Shahruddin stressed in his speech that the first step for an executive councilor of the association is to reach out to their fellow veterans in the lower division of the organisation.
“They are the foundation of our organisation,” he said.
He mentioned that there were approximately 154,000 members as of February 8, 2019.
“We must provide proper leadership for them and support those who need help,” he said.
Shahruddin also mentioned that the organisation is not like any others as all the members have equal share, so they should not be treated differently.
Also present at the programme were PVATM President Pahang Captain Abdul Latif Mohd Nor, PVATM President Terengganu Major General Datuk Mohammad Zaki Hamzah and PVATM President Sarawak Roland Demong Radin.
The programme also witnessed the presentation of cheques to all the branch heads in Sarawak followed by the handover of referendum by YDP PVATM Sarawak Roland Demong Radin to Shahruddin.
