It won the “For The Outstanding Invention Award” from the International Federation of Inventors Associations (IFIA) and Gold Award in the Public Service Innovation Awards 2019 (PSIA 2019).
The “For the Outstanding Invention Award” is the most prestigious award at the MTE 2019 while the Gold Award is the highest award in the PSIA category.
JTS defeated 11 other competitors to win the Gold award which saw a total of 25 innovations.
JTS won with its “The Transformation of Boundary Marks: Sarapeg” created by its KK Millennium Sabe Group.
Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Sri Dr Ismail Bakar presented the award on Feb 22.
Appraisal was done by a panel of judges appointed by the Malaysian Association of Creativity & Innovation (MARCI).
All 12 participants were required to set up an exhibition space to enable the judges to assess them.
The MTE Exhibition was held since 2001. The 19th exhibition attracted 99 agencies locally and those from abroad. The participants comprised public service agencies, manufacturing companies, technology firms, institutions of higher education, researchers and schools.
The exhibition is a platform for technology inventors and innovators to present their designs to the public.
Among the criteria for the judging were: The innovation had been patented both locally and abroad; it had an impact on environmental conservation; it is being used and marketed; it had been scientifically certified by Sirim; it is ready to be commercialised; it utilises up-to-date technology; and it had international recognition.
Based on these criteria, the Sarapeg innovation earned IFIA most prestigious recognition at the MTE 2019 which saw the presentation of 10 gold, seven silver, and eight bronze awards.
For the best innovations there are four special awards ̶ Sarapeg the New Boundary Mark: IFIA; National Flood Forecasting and Warning System of Malaysia: Croatia Inventors Network; GISMPKj2U: JIPPA; and Aedes Biobased Fuel: MACRI.
