KUCHING: Another case of Sarawakians falling prey to a job scam abroad had been uncovered, this time in Monrovia, Liberia.

It is learned that the Sarawakians, eight of them, were stranded in the West African coast nation since Feb 4.

Fortunately, all eight, similar to the 47 Malaysians detained in Cambodia recently, were allowed to return home.

They are expected to arrive at Kuching International Airport (KIA) around 8.30pm today, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii and Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol.

As at press time yesterday, however, there were no further details as to why the eight were stranded in Liberia.

Sarawak DAP, which disclosed this in a WhatsApp message, said members of the party would be receiving the eight at the Kuching International Airport around 8.30pm tomorrow to be followed by a press conference.
