MIRI: A 46-year-old man was killed on the spot after he was crushed by a reversing excavator at an estate in Kuala Baram Tuesday evening.
In the 4.20pm incident, Selute Sigi died from severe head and body injuries.
State traffic and enforcement department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement said prior to the fatal incident, the excavator was lifting timber at the site.
“The deceased who was standing behind the excavator driven by a 20-year-old operator was crushed when the excavator reversed,” he said.
Alexson said the operator was not aware that the deceased had stood behind the machine.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The body has been sent to the Miri Hospital morgue for autopsy.
