KUCHING: Sarawak’s horse riding athlete, Adi Sebli emerged victorious in one of the events in the EAM Masters 1 tournament organised by the Equestrian Association of Malaysia (EAM) in Ipoh, Perak on April 15 and 16.

Adi, who rode Super Sain Versuvio, is a Sarawakian who has long been active in equestrian sport in Peninsular Malaysia.

A member of Equestrian Sports Association of Sarawak since 2012, Adi gained a lot of experience by joining a lot of equestrian competitions representing a variety of clubs in Peninsular Malaysia.

This year was his first time to represent Sarawak through the Equestrian Association of Sarawak or Equestrian Sarawak.

According to Sarawak Equestrian team manager, Zulkifli Ahamat, their athletes’ participation in the tournament is considered as a very significant achievement for the state’s equestrian because this was the first time Sarawak participated in equestrian sport tournament in Malaysia.

“Because it was our debut participation, we didn’t put too high expectations to win.

“Hopefully, our participation in tournament will boost the development and advancement of equestrian sport in Sarawak,” he said.

Zulkifli added that Equestrian Sarawak will continue to

guide and train more horseback athletes to represent Sarawak in the future.

“Equestrian Sarawak will continue to strive to help potential members of the Equestrian Sarawak and also to those who have experienced such Adi (show jumping and endurance events) and Abdul Halim Alihan (endurance event) to continue their struggle in equestrian sport.

“Halim has represented Malaysia in the endurance event abroad and in Malaysia and his team won the gold medal while representing Malaysia at the Myanmar SEA Games 2013,” stressed Zulkifli.

Equestrian Sarawak was confident that Sarawak can be one of the states that will produce
