KUCHING: Unhappy with a policeman’s action of advising her against lodging a report on a road accident involving her car, a woman, from Kota Sentosa, sought help from the Sarawak United People’s Party Public Complaints Bureau (SPCB) recently.
During a meeting with SPCB chief, Wilfred Yap, the woman told him the accident occurred in Muara Tuang while she was on her way home when a car driven by a motorist rammed the rear of her car.
The woman claimed the motorist did not have a valid road tax and insurance and an on duty policeman had discouraged her from lodging a report on the incident while she was at Samarahan Police Station.
Following the meeting, Yap brought the woman to One Stop Police Centre at Jalan Simpang Tiga to lodge a report on the incident that occurred at Samarahan Police Station before going to Samarahan Police Station to lodge a report on the accident.
Yap said a police report onf the accident must be lodged within 24 hours.
He said on duty policemen at any police station in Malaysia had no authority to refuse to take reports and those who face similar problems could seek help from SPCB.
