TN50 dialogue attracts over 200 participants

SARIKEI: More than 200 people comprising college students, lecturers and civil servants took part in the Sarikei Division-level National Transformation 2050 (TN50) Dialogue Session here, yesterday.

The programme was co-organised by the Youth and Sports Department Sarikei and the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) Rajang.

Member of the panel were Chief Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Abdullah Saidol who is also Semop Assemblyman, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Teng Ung Woo and Romeo Christopher Tegong.

Of the number of participants, 149 were from IPG Rajang, 11 students of Kolej Komuniti, 10 students of Giat Mara, 30 agencies staff and 36 lecturers.

The one-day programme was aimed at exposing the participants to the concept, objectives and rationale of the government’s efforts in introducing the TN50.

In addition to encouraging the youth participation, it also aims to get inputs and aspirations on the TN50.  A participant, Normala Sirat,20, said the TN50 is a government strategic move that will benefit the people in the country and the effort should not only be viewed seriously but also must have the support of all parties, especially the youth. Her friend, Borhan Jamali, 23, said the TN50 will have a major impact on the people in this country in the long term.  “The youth play an important responsibility because they are the future leaders,” he said.

Also present were Director of IPG Rajang Campus, Dr. Lambat Lindong and Sarikei Youth and Sports Officer, Johari Abdullah.
